Mount Veeder is one of the Napa Valley's oldest viticultural districts and newest wine appellations.
The Mount Veeder appellation encompasses 24 square miles of some of the steepest vineyards and most remote wineries in California (see maps here).
This unique and historic viticultural district is located in the southeastern portion of the Mayacamas mountains which divide Napa and Sonoma counties.

This appellation's 11 vintners and 31 growers range from farmers and recluses to artists and international businessmen. It takes a certain independent spirit and tenacity to grow grapes on the mountain, with its steep slopes, thin soils, scarce water and labor-intensive viticulture. But there is no question that these conditions produce just what the appellation's vintners are after: the distinctive, intense, multi-dimensional flavors of mountain grapes.
